Thank goodness for Rachel! I began working with her six months ago after relocating on short notice to Brussels from the US. At that time, speaking and writing French were just distant high-school memories for me. Thanks to weekly sessions with Rachel, I have moved swiftly back towards proficiency AND have really enjoyed the process. I was introduced to Rachel Wingfield through Nancy Delouis, the celebrated French painter whom we have represented for some time. Whilst we had managed our transactions in earlier times, the language difference between us and the artist was always a problem and as business life became more complicated with VAT and exchange rates, it was essential that we found someone who could fully integrate us in the subtle arrangements of art promotion and the logistics of importing the paintings. Rachel has not only brought our relationship with the artist to a greater understanding but she has also enabled us, through her translations, to discuss the subtleties of Nancy's work and encourage her to paint the type of subject which the English market preferred. Rachel has more than adequately translated the scholarly appraisals which we include in our catalogues and I know from some of our French clients that her translations have been very meaningful. This is not an easy task and many English/French translations fail - Rachel has proved to be expert in this area.
On a more personal level, Rachel has accompanied us on various trips to the Artist's Studio and is charming company and highly professional.
